and the Needles don’t Hurt

Yesterday I received an acupuncture treatment for the first time.   Liz Roseman treated me at her beautiful practice overlooking Charlotte Street.  I admit, I was a little nervous but even more curious as to the benefits of being stuck repeatedly with needles.   Liz placed the first needle at the center of my forehead.  I felt an initial prick, nowhere near the pain of plucking an eyebrow hair, then a dull focused sense of calm.  She then continued to strategically place over 15 needles at various points on my body.  As she placed the needles she explained to me what each point was for. When some needles went in I felt nothing at all, then my muscle in that area would become heavy and dull feeling almost as if it was not connected to my body.  Sometime a needle would go in and I would feel an electric spark in an entirely different muscle in another part of my body, then complete calm.  As I lay there for half an hour, the serenity I felt was like a drug.  I was acutely aware of my surroundings while belonging to a space unaffected by drama, stress or pain.  At one point I felt as if my body was completely hollow, another moment I thought my liver purred.

If you have never tried acupuncture, or are on a budget stop by for Liz’s acupuncture happy hour on Wednesday afternoons.
You may be saying “Yeah, Franzi, that’s great, but what does acupuncture have to do with your store?”
Well, Liz and her husband, Nate, are some of our favorite customers, and as you know we love promoting local artists and businesses. We also love photos of people in the community wearing our clothes. So, if you have any photos of yourself or friends at parties or events wearing items from our store send them to us and we’ll post them! Also, if you are a local artist or business owner, link up with us via this blog or Facebook, or just come on in the store and introduce yourself.
